LYDIA'S BACKGROUND
Lydia was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Between 1975 and 1980, she sang Pop, Rock and Funky. She attended Professor Aída Fernández private school (renowned as the principal opera singer at S.O.D.R.E.) where she studied singing technique amongst other specialised subjects in the field.
Lydia then joined the group "Savia Viva" as their main vocalist, winning the Piriápolis Pop Music Festival in Uruguay.
Later, she joined the group "Times". She sang pop music in English and made a few recordings which achieved high popularity.
From 1980 Lydia came across the new rhythms of the so called 'Brazilian Popular Music' which marked a new path in her musical career.
It was then that she started her fussion singer period as a member of the group "Ondata", known for their near jazz harmonies and Afro Latin rhythms. 
Lydia adopted her English grandfather's surname Wellington who had been a classical guitar performer and a strong influence in her career.
She also then took part in Jam sessions with prestigious musicians and gradually became attracted to Jazz.
Lydia has performed in Spain with well-known musicians: Josemi Alfonso, José Luis Granell, Mariano Pini, Manuel Hamerlink, Ricardo Belda, Luis Llario, Felipe Cucciardi, Fernando Marco, Ramón Cardo, Miguel Angel Casañ, Jordi Vila, Paco Aranda, Javier Mustieles, Ximo Tébar, Ximo García de Haro and many more.
In 1994 she graduated as a Speech Therapist from the University of Valencia.
